If your iKamand won’t update, follow these steps to troubleshooting the update process:

  • To update your iKamand, press the Update button in the app by navigating to Devices (Kamado icon in the top right of Cook tab). Your app should display “waiting…” underneath your Update button when the update request is made.

  • If your iKamand doesn’t start updating you will see a message in the app saying “Waiting...”, and then an alert saying the update did not begin. Try updating again by pressing the update button.

  • Your iKamand must be turned on and connected to the internet in order to update. We recommend keeping your iKamand near your router when updating. If your update fails, the iKamand's connection to the internet may be weak.

  • Monitor your iKamand during the update to ensure that it isn't disconnected from power during the update.

  • If you are using the iKamand in Grill or BBQ, your iKamand won’t start updating until the mode has finished. Finish your Fire It Up or BBQ Mode to start the update.

  • After the download starts, it can take up to 20 minutes for the update to be successful. Please be patient during this time.

  • Your iKamand LED may turn off for a few minutes during the update. If the LED does not turn back on after 5 minutes, unplug the iKamand and plug it back in again. If the LED does not come on and the iKamand is unresponsive, contact Kamado Joe Customer Support

  • If the update is unsuccessful, try two more times. If the update does not work after three attempts, contact Kamado Joe Customer Support.
